Scripture and Hermeneutics Seminar, 2013

The SAHS is planning to meet in Baltimore this year, as usual on the Friday afternoon before SBL starts, from 3.00-5.30 followed by a communal meal. The venue for the meeting is Gallery Church's 1840's Plaza at 29 S Front Street.

Our theme will again be the MANIFESTO FOR THEOLOGICAL INTERPRETATION. The volume contract with Baker Academic is presently being finalized and our meeting will aim to move the project forwards towards completion.

Our plan is to address some of the issues that were raised last year, viz.,

- how Scripture norms theological interpretation

- history and theological interpretation

- how to read Scripture for all of life.

We are asking three contributors to present for 20 mins on each of these topics. The rest of the time will be spent in discussion with major contributions from the contributors. 

Our hope is that with a final draft of the manifesto that we can work towards our individual chapters in 2014 and have the manuscript finalized by SBL 2014.
