Theology
Theology is that indispensable systematic reflection on the major doctrines of Scripture for today. The Reformed tradition has a great history of work in this area with such luminaries as Calvin, Barth, Berkouwer, etc. Within the Kuyperian tradition, however, there have been fewer recently with Gordon Spykman’s Reformational Theology as the outstanding exception. We are excited to report that we are now working on a multi-volume New Kuyperian Dogmatics with IVP Academic.
Alongside The Scripture and Hermeneutics Seminar, we are working to develop The Scripture and Doctrine Seminar, which would do its work parallel to the emergence of the New Kuyperian Dogmatics.
We have several doctoral students working on theology in areas such as Augustine and Wisdom (Benjamin Quinn) and Ecclesiology (Michael Wagenman). We have a particular interest in Practical Theology, an exciting more recent theological discipline. One of our doctoral students, Karen Harding, is doing research focused on the spirituality of Thomas Merton.
